Kenneth W. Carlson, age 77, of 1084 Cooper Lake Road, Ishpeming Township died at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at his home with his loving family at his side.
Ken was born Nov. 7, 1929 in Lansing to Carl W. & Violet M. (Johnson) Carlson, attended Negaunee High School, and was a life long area resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran earning an Honorable Discharge in Aug. of 1948. He worked for CCI at various company properties for 40 years, retiring as a balling operator at the Tilden Mine in 1989.
Ken enjoyed hunting & fishing in his younger years, loved to travel & cook and loved his pet dog "Sassy." He most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice M. (Kangas) Carlson, his children and their families: son Kenneth, Jr. and wife Carol, grandson Ryan and wife Joy, great grandsons Isaac and Adam, granddaughter Sara, son Jeffrey, son Michael and wife Linda, granddaughter Jena and husband Justin Harvala, granddaughter Denae and great grandson Braiden Nelson, step grandchildren Angela (her son Noah), Adam, and Michael, daughter Roberta and husband Rueben Houle, grandsons Zachary and Samuel, son Joseph and wife Heather, grandson Nicholas and granddaughter Alyssa, grandsons Andrew and Spencer, and granddaughter Tyra. Also surviving are brothers: Richard and wife Marie, Robert and wife Carol, Philip and wife Mavis, Neil and wife Marjorie, Roger, James and wife Diane, and their sons and daughters, a sister-in-law, Lorraine Contreras. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Carl W.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday at the Koskey Funeral Home. Rev. John A. Roy, pastor of the Good News Assembly of God Church, Ishpeming will officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 AM until the time of services at 1 PM at the funeral home on Friday. A reception will follow the service at the Good News Assembly of God Church.
