Negaunee dateline

Domenica T. “Kena” Carlyon, 100, a longtime Negaunee resident, died on Monday, June 27, 2011 at the St. Francis Home in Saginaw.

Domenica was born May 18, 1911 in Negaunee to Joseph and Costanza Torreano and was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1929. She was a devout member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee and was a charter member of the Altar Society. Domenica was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

Mrs. Carlyon was an avid homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and other crafts. She liked playing cards, working jigsaw puzzles, collecting stamps, calligraphy writing, and cheering on her beloved Green Bay Packers.

Surviving are 4 sons: Stanley J. Carlyon of Kenosha, WI, Neil A. (Edith) Carlyon of Las Vegas, NV, Robert M. (Maureen) Carlyon of Saginaw, and Keith B. (Susan) Carlyon of Traverse City, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward W. Carlyon on December 28, 1968, a brother John Torreano, and 2 sisters: Mary Samuelson and Florence Torreano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Burial will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11 AM until the time of services at noon at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Catholic Church Memorial Fund in Domenica’s name.
