| | | Doris Ernestine Leese was born March 12, 1932 to Charles and Hilda (Thoede) Leese in Chicago, Illinois. She received her education and later graduated from high school in Chicago. Dore then was a graduate of Chicago School of Business. She then was employed at the Wrigley Building and then for L. M. Berry Company in Chicago and later Warsaw, Indiana. She was united in marriage to Douglas E. White in January of 1960 in Warsaw, Indiana. After their marriage they lived in Warsaw until moving to Mason City, Iowa in 1961. Dore was employed in the English Department at the Mason City High School. After the death of her husband, Douglas she later met Robert Melson of rural Trimont and later they were married in June of 1985, moving to rural Trimont. They later moved to there present home on Cedar Lake. Dore attended the Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont and enjoyed wintering in Sebring, Florida. She was a long time member of the Mason City Country Club and the Fox Lake Golf Club in rural Sherburn. She always looked forward to wintering in Florida and eagerly volunteered for people in need in the community.
Dore died on Monday afternoon, April 7, 2008 at the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of seventy-six years.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Melson of rural Trimont, Minnesota; children, Lisa Steffen and husband, Jim, of Forest City, Iowa, Lori Kruger and husband, Lowell, of Bloomington, Minnesota, J.D. White and wife, Carolyn, of Omaha, Nebraska; step-children, Celeste Kietzman and husband, Bob, of Cave Creek, Arizona, Nancy Nagib and husband, Mahmoud, of Edina, Minnesota, Tracy Melson and wife, Beth, of rural Trimont, Minnesota, Troy Melson and wife, Liza, of rural Trimont, Minnesota; seventeen grandchildren, Natalie, Nicole and Nolan Harmon, Matt and Tom Kruger, Avery and Claire White, Lauren and Alex Schaffhausen, Jacob, Aline, Stephon, Christian, Seth and Emelia Melson, Rob and Brekken Melson and other relatives and friends.
Dore was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Douglas E. White; brothers, infant Phillip Leese, Chuck and Don Leese; mother-in-law, Amber Christensen and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, Dore's family requests memorials to the Home Care and Hospice of the Faimont Medical Center.
