| | | Lucille Geneieve Kellen was born July 12, 1919 to John and Rose (Favire) Kellen in Manyaska Township, Martin County, Minnesota. Lucy was baptized and Confirmed at St. Lukes Catholic Church in Sherburn, Minnesota. At the age of two her family moved to Backus, Minnesota where she received her education. Her Father died in 1925 and then they moved back to the Welcome, Minnesota area. In 1937 Lucy and her Mother moved to Sherburn and she worked at the Hemp Plant in Sherburn. She was united in marriage to Robert Walter Schwager on February 19, 1946 in the St. Lukes Parsonage in Sherburn, Minnesota After their marriage they farmed for several years and them moved back to Sherburn in 1956. Lucy was employed at Adam’s Café in Sherburn, Egg Plant in Jackson, Tony Downs Foods in St. James and Sperry Univac in Jackson until she retired in 1985. She was an active member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Sherburn and a member of the CCW. She was a member of the Jay Garden Club, Sherburn Auxiliary and Senior Citizens. Lucy enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, flowers, fishing, sewing, fancy work, crocheting, gardening and many other things.
Lucy passed away on Monday morning, May 5, 2008, at the Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health System in Fairmont, Minnesota, at the age of 88.
Survivors include her two children Robert “Bert” Schwager (Alice) of Sherburn, Minnesota and Lucinda “Cindy” Schwager (Odell) of Sherburn, Minnesota; four grandchildren Shannon Schwager of Trimont, Minnesota, Sheila Schwager of Trimont, Minnesota, Shane Schwager (Amy) of Trimont, Minnesota and Tara Schwager of Mankato, Minnesota; five great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Vera Kellen of Welcome, Minnesota and Grace Schwager of Sherburn, Minnesota and other relatives and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Walter, one infant son, brothers Vernon Kellen and Clarence Kellen, sister Violet Krueger and other relatives.
