Steven Ray Ellis was born on April 8, 1970 in Lompoc, California to George & Joan (Tuil) Ellis. He grew up in Lompoc, California until moving to the Trimont area in 1985 when he was a 9th grader. He received his education at Trimont High School, graduating in 1988. Steve attended college at Augustana College for three years in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He then attended Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, California and Minnesota State University-Mankato for Electrical Engineering. Steve then pursued a career in truck driving. On September 2, 1995 he was united in marriage to Jennifer Schwager at St. John₼s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minnesota. They made their home in Welcome. At the time of his illness, Steve was employed with Holiday Express as a truck driver based out of Estherville, Iowa. Steve was a member of St. John₼s Lutheran Church. He greatly enjoyed spending time his family and friends. A special time in his life was taking a cross country trip in his semi with daughter Stephanie and stopping at Disneyland. Steve also treasured the time spent with his daughter Katelyn fishing. These special times were held very close to Steve's heart. Steve enjoyed working on his cars, designing car audio systems, boating, snowmobiling and spending time outdoors. Steve did a lot of home remodeling projects and enjoyed cooking and barbequing. Steve died on Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2008 at his home in Welcome, Minnesota at the age of 38. Those that will cherish his memory include his wife, Jennifer Ellis of Welcome, Minnesota; daughters, Stephanie and Katelyn Ellis of Welcome, Minnesota; father, George Ellis of Trimont, Minnesota; mother, Joan Ellis of rural Trimont, Minnesota; sister, Sharon Cola and husband, John, of Willmar, Minnesota; mother and father-in-law, Nancy and Bruce Schwager of Sherburn, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Sarah Fredrickson and husband, Tom, of Kasson, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Jaime Schwager of Sherburn, Minnesota; nephew, Drew Fredrickson of Kasson and step-nephews, Tony and Michael Cola of Willmar; many aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends. Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents and other relatives. Interment will be in the Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.
