| | | Selma Louise Augusta Koehler was born on November 24, 1923 to William and Anna (Hagen) Koehler on their rural farm home in rural Ceylon, Minnesota. She was baptized on December 16, 1923 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dunnell, Minnesota and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith in April of 1938 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon, Minnesota. Selma attended rural school in District #32 in Lake Belt Township. On June 19, 1949 she was united in marriage to Walter Garlisch at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ceylon, Minnesota. After their marriage she worked on the farm until her sons took over the farm. She greatly enjoyed visiting with family and friends, gardening, flowers, crocheting and knitting. Selma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minnesota.
Selma died on Monday evening, May 19, 2008 at her home in rural Trimont, Minnesota after a battle with cancer at the age of eighty-four years.
She is survived by her three sons, Everett Garlisch of rural Trimont, Minnesota, Ronald and Merlin Garlisch both of rural Trimont, Minnesota; a daughter, Annette Garlisch of Fairmont, Minnesota; brother, Harold and his wife, Elsie Koehler of rural Ceylon Minnesota; sister, Ardella and her husband, Vern Potthoff of rural Dunnell, Minnesota; sisters-in-law Loraine Grussing and Elna Olson both of Fairmont, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Selma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter on February 28, 1998; son, Marlin; brothers, Elmer and his wife Emma Koehler and Marvin and his wife, Mavis Koehler; brothers-in-law, James Grussing and Richard O. Olson and other relatives.
Interment will be in Cedar Lutheran Cemetery in rural Trimont.
