Ezurina Pearl Giese was born March 22, 1920 to Ed and Zella (Chamberlain) Giese in Amboy, Minnesota. On January 11, 1939 she was united in marriage to Clifford Cunningham at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Estherville, Iowa. Ezurina and Cliff farmed in Sauk Centre, Minnesota area until his death in 1947. Ezurina moved with her three daughters, Audrey, Jean, and Carol to Madelia, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Lorenz Meier at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia, Minnesota on August 27, 1950. Ezurina and Lorenz lived on the Meier family farm near Ormsby, Minnesota until 2003, when they retired to St. James, Minnesota. Ezurina loved being on the their farm and all of the activities involved there. She especially loved working in her beautiful yard and garden. She loved working in her kitchen and was a great domestic engineer. Ezurina and Lorenz spent many hours refinishing furniture and caning chairs. Her other hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting and playing cards. Ezurina passed away on Saturday afternoon, May 24, 2008, at the St. James Medical Center in St. James, Minnesota, at the age of 88. Survivors include her children, Audrey Swanson and her husband, Robert of rural St. James, Minnesota, Jean Peterson and her husband, Richard, of Belle Plaine, Minnesota, John Meier and his wife, Rose, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; son-in-law, Jerry Hempeck of Butterfield, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Jeanette Meier of Clearwater, Florida;sister, Elaine Heers of Fort Collins, Colorado; brother, Charles Giese and his wife, Gloria, of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Ezurina was preceded in death by her parents,husband, Clifford, daughters, Judith Meier and Carol Cunningham Hempeck;and very recently on March 10, 2008 her husband, Lorenz and other relatives. Ezurina family prefers memorials to St. James Health Services in St. James, Minnesota. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Galena Township, rural Ormsby.
