Stanley Clifford Nelson was born March 30, 1947 to Clifford and Alverda (Bork) Nelson in Fairmont, Minnesota. He was baptized and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Stanley attended and later was a 1965 Graduate of Welcome High School. He then attended Jackson Vocational School for Appliance Repair. On August 27, 1966, he was united in marriage to Lois Nelson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Welcome where Stan was employed at Fairmont Appliance and TV and then at Ole’s Fairdeal Appliance. Stan then opened his own appliance store in Welcome calling it Stan’s Appliance. He later was employed for Ag-Chem in Jackson until his retirement. Stan was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. He was presently serving as Councilman for the City of Welcome. He was a former member of the Welcome Fire Department, Welcome School Board Member and was a life member of the Fox Lake Conservation Club. Stan greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, woodworking and was known as the handyman.

Stanley passed away on Sunday evening, July 13, 2008, at the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota, at the age of 61.
 
Survivors include his wife, Lois Nelson of Welcome, Minnesota; son, Christopher Nelson and daughter-in-law, Christine Nelson of Jackson, Minnesota; daughter, Teresa Atzenhoefer and husband, Bob, of Fairmont, Minnesota; grandchildren, Desirae Nelson, Tyler Nelson, Andrea Niss, Alyssa Niss, Ashten Atzenhoefer; one great-granddaughter, Sydnee Todorovic; mother-in-law, Ione Nelson of Welcome, Minnesota; brothers-in-law, Marlan Anders of rural Fairmont, Minnesota, Jim Nelson and friend, Any Langford of Spicer, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Rhonda Roessler of Ham Lake, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
 
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nola Anders; twin infant brothers, father-in-law, Bud Nelson; brother-in-law, Steven Nelson and other relatives.
