Henry Arthur Abel was born July 16, 1905 on the family farm in Fraser Township, Martin County, Minnesota. He attended country school in Fraser Township and helped on the family farm. They raised corn, beans, and also raised pigs and cows. They lived on various areas around Fairmont. Henry purchased the family farm and continued for sixty years. On October 12, 1942 he entered the United States Army serving until his honorable discharge on August 17, 1945. In March of 1995, Henry moved off the farm in Rolling Green Township and became the second resident at Ingleside Assisted Living in Fairmont. He later became a resident of the Lutz Wing at the Fairmont Medical Center. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. Henry greatly enjoyed playing cards, playing billards and baseball. In his earlier years they had a Baseball Team made up of all Abel’s.

Henry passed away on Monday morning, August 4, 2008, at the Lutz Wing of the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota, at the age of 103.
 
Survivors include many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
 
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Ella Steuber, Frieda Juhl, Minnie Snyder and Rosa Rosenberg; five brothers, John, Charles, Otto, William and Albert Abel and other relatives.
