Francis Edward Skalicky was born October 17, 1930 to Frank A. and Edna (Malumby) Skalicky at Jackson, Minnesota. He attended school in Jackson. On June 4, 1948 he entered the United States Navy serving until his honorable discharge on May 28, 1952. On October 13, 1949, Frank was united in marriage to LaVera Luhmann at Fairmont, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Fairmont and later moved to Welcome. Frank was employed at 3M in Fairmont for over thirty-eight years until his retirement. Frank was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome and the Welcome American Legion Post #553. He greatly enjoyed bowling, playing pool and golf.

Frank passed away on Wednesday evening, August 13, 2008, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minnesota, at the age of seventy-seven.
 
He is survived by his children, daughter, Lynn Schweiss and her husband, Tom, of Welcome, Minnesota; sons, Scott Skalicky of Rochester, Minnesota, Doyle Skalicky and his wife, Hae Sun, of San Antonio, Texas, Randall Skalicky of Fairmont, Minnesota and Todd Skalicky and his wife, Joyce, of Riverside, California; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores Cagley and her husband, Jack, of Hastings, Nebraska and Shirley Koerner and her husband, Robert, of Corona, California; brothers-in-law, Harland Luhmann and his wife, Dorene, of Fairmont, Minnesota and Carroll “Lefty” Luhmann and his wife, Sharon, of Jackson, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
 
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, wife, LaVera; two sons, Gary Skalicky in 1967 and Thomas Skalicky in 1970; brother, Duane Skalicky and his wife, Shirley; sister-in-law, Florence Cottew and her husband, Lyle; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Luhmann and wife, Vi; Russell Luhmann and his wife, Lucille; and other relatives.
