| | | Rick Lynn Holtz was born March 23, 1960 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in the Sherburn area and later was a 1979 Graduate of Sherburn-Dunnell High School. Rick then farmed with his father in Elm Creek Township. On September 18, 1982, he was united in marriage to Peg Schultz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minnesota. After their marriage, they farmed in Elm Creek Township until the time of his sudden death. He also was employed at Pioneer Hi-Bred in Jackson for many years. Rick was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and at one time served on the Board of Trustee. He also served as a Supervisor on the Elm Creek Township Board. Rick was known for his woodworking skills, making many wood treasures for family and friends. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors,working in his yard, doing welding projects, putting up his christmas lights and his two treasures, a 1957 pickup truck and a 1972 Monte Carlo.
Rick died on Thursday morning, December 18, 2008, at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota, at the age of forty-eight years.
Survivors include his wife, Peg Holtz of rural Sherburn, Minnesota; parents, Virgil and Donna Holtz of rural Sherburn, Minnesota; sister, Shawnna McMains and her husband, David, and their son, Richard, of Ankeny, Iowa; brother-in-law, Ted Schultz of Fairmont, Minnesota; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; mother and father-in-law, Ervin and Delores Schultz; aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Interment will be in the Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.
