  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

Stella Catherine Eiden was born June 21, 1912, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Labert) Eiden at Sherburn, Minnesota. She graduated from Sherburn High School in 1930. Stella worked at various business places in Sherburn until her marriage. On April 15, 1937 she was united in marriage to George Bedford at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. The first years of their marriage they resided in Jay Township. Later moving to a farm in Manyaska Township and lived there until retiring to Sherburn in 1973.

Stella lived a full and satisfying life. She always appreciated how much she had been blessed. Stella was a devoted wife, loving mother and one who opened her home and heart to all welcome guests. Stella’s home was her castle. Her children remember a childhood with a selfless mother who was in constant motion-cooking, baking, cleaning, sewing, laundering, gardening and all done masterfully. Stella’s children recall many life lessons that they learned from her example; have your principles and live by them, be willing to share and help, use your talents, enjoy the simple pleasures and the satisfaction of hard work and the ability to laugh. All of these inspired us until the very end. Her legacy is descendants who were educated, industrious and high school and college. She enjoyed their accomplishments as well as their college and professional careers. Her dedication was to her Catholic faith and church. She held various offices in her guild, ladies aid and was a Catholic Lady Foresters for seventy-five years. Stella also was a religious education teacher for many years.

With Stella’s passing a whole generation of experiences and knowledge leaves us. We take comfort in the many memories Stella left us with when: helping various family members, sharing of family receipes; especially making of potato salad for many grandchildren’s graduation parties and family gatherings, sending treats home or to college, playing card games and praying for family members when in health or other crises. She could never do enough for those she loved. These memories will give us remembered love and courage.

Stella enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was blessed with good health and aged gracefully and with dignity.

She was the beloved wife of the late George; loved mother to Joan (Marlo) Schultz, Mary Lu (Lyle) Smith, Michael (Michelle) Bedford, Patrick (Anne) Bedford; fond grandmother to Michele (Daniel) Dorst, Laslie (Daren) Boyer, Teresa (Corey) Anderson, Ryan Smith, Nicolle (John) Justice, Jeremy Bedford, Brenda (Scott) Nelson, Lisa (Bryan) Wermer, Emily (Mark) Jagodzinske, Melinda (Michael) O’Connor and Amanda Bedford and fiancée, Craig Bosch; loving great-grandmother to Tyler and Zachary Boyer, Dylan Anderson, Blake and Lucas Jagodzinske, Emmerson Wermer, Hannah and Lauren Nelson, Eili Justus and Liam O’Conner. She is survived by a brother, LeRoy “Bud” Eiden and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, three brothers, Leander, Raymond and Leo; three sisters, Eleanor Traetow, Elsie Griffin and Cecelia Blowers and a grandson, Joseph Bedford and other relatives.

Interment will be in St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.
