John Keith Allen was born on May 13. 1936 to Vernon and Clara (Sherman) Allen on the family farm in Fox Lake Township, Martin County, Minnesota. He received his education in Trimont school and then farmed with his father on the farmily farm. On June 22, 1957, he was united in marriage to Birdella Sandersfeld at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minnesota. John was a life-time member of First Lutheran Church in Trimont, where he was baptized and confirmed and served on the Church Council. He enjoyed riding and driving Shetland ponies with his uncle, Lynn Allen. John loved hunting, fishing and boating on Big Twin Lake. John went golfing at the Fox Lake Golf Course and enjoyed golfing in Arizona. He served on the Farmers Co-op Elevator Board in Trimont and served many years on the Elm Creek Cemetery Board. John was very active in the Trimont Area Conservation Club. He was very proud to farm on the Allen Century Farm, which his grandfather, Charlie Allen homesteaded. In 2002, John received a Heart transplant in Tuscan, Arizona. John and Birdella spent many winters in their Arizona home and after the transplant spent most of their time near his Doctor in Arizona. While they were in Arizona they attended church at Mountain View Lutheran Church in Phoenix.

On Monday, March 23, 2009, John died at Kindred Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of seventy-two years.

John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Birdella Allen of rural Trimont, Minnesota; brother, Wilbur Allen and wife, Grace, of Fridley,Minnesota; sisters, Claribel Erickson and husband, Lowell, of Washougel, Washington, Nina Faber and husband, Donald Sr., of rural Trimont, Minnesota, Judith Connor and husband, James, of Marietta, Georgia, Janice Knaak and husband, Oscar, of Madelia, Minnesota and Linda Geistfeld of rural Truman, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Vivian Allen of Spencer, Iowa, Shirley Crocker of Lincoln, Nebraska, Marlys Grunst and husband, Alan of West Des Moines, Iowa, Nila Gilbertson and husband, Dwayne, of rural Fairmont, Minnesota; brothers-in-law, Arlyn Sandersfeld and wife, Ruth Ann, of Fairmont, Minnesota, Verlyn Sandersfeld and wife, Kay, of Fairmont, Minnesota, Gary Sandersfeld and wife, Carmen, of San Diego, California; nieces and nephews, aunt, Lucille Allen of Brainerd, Minnesota and other relatives and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Walter and Edna Sandersfeld; brother, Donald Allen; two sisters, Darleen Allen and Evelyn Stokes; nephew, Darwin Faber; brothers-in-law,John Stokes, Roger Geistfeld and Wayne David Crocker and aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
