Albert Gerald Hertle was born on September 18, 1921 to Henry and Olive (Rippy) Hertle in Lake City, Iowa. He received his education in Calhoun County, Iowa. Albert moved to Minnesota and was employed for various farmers such as Lloyd Garber and Tom Ringkob in the Jackson area. He then attended short term Bible training at Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas. On October 10, 1943 he was united in marriage to Loretta Garber at Alpha Mennonite Church in Alpha, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed in the Petersburg area and then in the Alpha area. Albert operated a Texaco Station in Alpha. In 1957 he served as a missionary for the American Sunday School Union and served twenty-four counties in the southwestern Minnesota. Along with Loretta they provided the word of the Lord to these areas, Fox Lake Chapel, North Redwood, Green Hill, Kimbrae, Island, Wilder, Lake Crystal, Montevideo, Chandler. Albert and Loretta served many Bible Camps and provided various Bible Studies and School. They belonged to the Grace Gospel Fellowship. When they retired they lived in Alpha until becoming a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Mountain Lake in 2005. Albert was very dedicated in donating his blood to the blood drive and received his 5-gallon pin. In his early years, he enjoyed swimming , camping, visiting and singing. If you know Albert you could remember him humming all the time. He sold Archer Oil and Kaltenberg Seed Corn for many years and attended World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. Albert in enjoyed working with wood and doing special things for people. In their later years, Albert and Loretta sold stainless steel cookware.

On Wednesday morning, April 8, 2009, Albert went to be with his Lord and Savior at the Good Samaritan Home in Mountain Lake, Minnesota at the age of Eighty-seven years.

Albert is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Loretta Hertle of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; son, David (Laura) Hertle of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Nila Gene (Eldon) Olson of rural Trimont, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Manetta Hertle of Muncie, Indiana; brother-in-law, Leo Escherhausen of Phoenix, Arizona and other relatives and friends.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph, sister, Hazel and other relatives and friends.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Jackson,Minnesota.
