| | | Gloria Ann Linn was born on March 17, 1949 to Goodwin and Annie (Howard) Linn in Des Moines, Iowa. They moved to the Estherville, Iowa area where she attended Estherville Schools. Gloria loved to jump rope and play in the woods behind their home while growing up. On April 29, 1967, she was united in marriage to Ronald Helmich at Estherville, Iowa. After their marriage they lived a few years in Iowa before making their home in Minnesota. They moved to Trimont in November of 1979 where they had made their home since. Gloria was employed at Lorraine’s Café in Trimont, Glasstite in Dunnell, Nelson Truck Hoods in St. James and Blooms Candy Factory in Jackson. She was active in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts in Trimont where she served as a Den Mother. Gloria was diagnosed with cancer in 1981, she has battled arthritis most of her adult life, and had heart surgery in November of 2008. She was a strong willed woman that never let these events get her down. She was always there to lend an ear and give you a smile. She enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, crafts and sewing. Gloria loved spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren the most. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
On Saturday morning, April 11, 2009, Gloria died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota at the age of sixty years.
Gloria is survived by her husband of fourty-two years, Ronald Helmich of Trimont, Minnesota; daughters, Laura (David) Holtz of Trimont, Minnesota, Annette Helmich of Avoca, Minnesota; sons, Ronald Helmich Jr. (Tricia) of Fairmont, Minnesota, Larry (Kim) Helmich of Howard, South Dakota, Terry (Brandee) Helmich of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; thirteen grandchildren, Jessi, Mitchell, Reese, Kendelle, Christian, Hannah, Tavia, Zachary, Gabrielle, Brandon, Marcus, Aaron, and Coby; parents, Annie and Goodwin Linn of Estherville, Iowa; brothers, Tom (Irene) Linn of Houston, Texas, Gary (Shirley) Linn of Grain Valley, Missouri, Kenneth (Lynda) Linn of Monroe, Louisiana, Duane Linn of Estherville, Iowa, Randy (Connie) Linn of Armstrong, Iowa, Steven (Alta) Linn of Superior, Iowa; sister, Kaylene Linn of Estherville, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Ann (Larry) Ray of Medford, Wisconsin and Leona (Gerald) Mammen of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Dorothy Helmich of Graettinger, Iowa nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
Gloria is preceded in death by her grandparents, son, Kevin; step-father,mother and father-in-law Alice and Erwin Helmich, Arnie Dalen; brother-in-law, Donald Helmich; sister-in-law, Ardella and other relatives and friends.
Interment will be in Elm Creek Cemetery, rural Trimont, Minnesota.
