  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

MARJORIE ALTA GIBSON

Marjorie A. Gibson was born the daughter of James and Ruth (Nellis) Stiles on January 2, 1934 and died at Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa on January 27, 2009 at the age of 75 years and 25 days.
Marjorie graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and also graduated from William Woods College for Women with a 4 year degree in office management. During this time she was involved in riding and showing horses. Marjorie and William Gibson Jr. were married at the Methodist Church in Valley Junction on April 17, 1954. This union was blessed with 2 sons: William E. III and Russell J.
After marriage, Marjorie and Bill lived in the Des Moines area where Marjorie worked for the Des Moines School system in food services. She also raised German shepherd dogs and showed them, winning numerous medals and trophies. Due to the size of her kennel she and Bill moved to Dexter in 1977, where Marjorie continued working with her dogs as well as working for True Value Hardware in Earlham and Baldon Hardware in Adel, retiring in 2006. Marjorie enjoyed visits to their lake home in Battle Lake, Minnesota. She also enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and vegetables. She was an avid bird watcher and bird feeder. She enjoyed being around animals, especially dogs, horses and cats. She collected animal figurines. She was a huge NBA basketball fan, watching all the Bull’s games she could.
Marjorie is survived by her husband William Earl Gibson Jr. of Dexter; sons William Earl Gibson III and wife Darla and Russell J. Gibson and wife Lisa all of Dexter; mother Ruth Stiles of Des Moines; and 5 grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her father James R. Stiles.

Twenty-Third Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in
green pastures.
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul;
he leadeth me in the paths of
righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me.
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies.
Thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell
in the house of the Lord forever.
