  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

Darlene M. Price, age 69 died early Thursday morning at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa. No services are planned, however a visitation will be held Sunday at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham from 3-8:00 pm with the family present to greet friends from 6-8:00 pm. Darlene Jackson came into the world November 21, 1939, only she wasn’t alone, she came with a twin sister, Arline Caroline Jackson. Their parents, Florence and Andrew were very proud of their twin girls, which were the fourth arrival for the Jacksons. The Jacksons were living in Goshen, Indiana at this time. After a few years in Indiana, it was decided that they wanted to move back to Des Moines, Iowa, where Florence had lived most of her life. A few years after returning to Iowa the Jacksons were divorced. Florence then met her second husband Eugene Bledsoe, so Darlene had a new step-father in 1960. Darlene was your typical child, going from one fun activity to another. Getting in trouble like all children. Darlene had a very active childhood with six brothers and sisters. As Darlene became a teenager, many things changed for her. She was growing up so fast and then one day the moment she has waited for, she met her knight in shining armor, James Max Goforth. It was love at first sight, and they were married on January 2, 1956. This would change her life a lot as James was from Flint, Michigan. So a new life was to begin in Flint, Michigan. Darlene and James were the proud parents of four boys, James Anthony, Keith Alvin, Paul Eugene and John Edwin. These sons have all grown up to be the pride of her life. Darlene divorced Mr. Goforth and returned to Des Moines, Iowa in 1967. After returning to Des Moines, she purchased a small town tavern in Earlham, Iowa, where she met and married her second husband James Price. She divorced James Price in 1998, but continues to live in Earlham, Iowa. Darlene was a very fun loving spirit that enjoyed having a good time; she enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She also loved the challenge of playing pool and bowling. She had many collections of things that caught her eye, and enjoyed working with her twin sister, Arline making dolls from scratch. She was a very social person and enjoyed her many friends, and community work. Darlene enjoyed the company of her companion jack Kinkennon the last few years, and of course always by her side was her wonderful dog Faith. Darlene was baptized at the DeSoto Baptist Church in 1998. Darlene was looking forward to being greeted in heaven by her husband James Max Goforth, her mother Florence Bledsoe, her father Andrew Isaac Jackson and her brother Andrew Jackson Jr. Her last wish was that each of you here today leave in an upbeat mood, feeling only love for those around you. “Don’t waste time you have on anger, when Love is so much more rewarding.”
