JUDY PATRICIA PIATT
;Judy P. Piatt was born the daughter of Arnold and Irene (Lariviere) Beattie in Montreal, Canada on July 15, 1949 and died at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on September 4, 2009 at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 20 days.
Judy graduated from Seacrest High School in 1967 and graduated from West Palm Beach Florida Community College in the dental assistant program. Judy married Steve Kirkman in 1970. This union was blessed with two children: Timothy and Sandra. Judy and Steve were divorced in 1982. After moving to Iowa, Judy met Keith Piatt and they were married in Dexter in 1984. Judy and Keith renewed their vows at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart in 1988. They would have celebrated their 25th anniversary later this fall. Judy worked for several years as a certified dental assistant and was currently working as an assistant to the manager at “The Willows” assisted living center in Stuart. Judy was one of the first female fireman on the Dexter Fire Department, a first responder and was a CNA and a CMA. Judy once received the Des Moines Police Dept Humanitarian Award for assistance she gave an accident victim. Judy was an avid Iowa State football and basketball fan. She and Keith traveled to Canada, Florida and Georgia several times to visit family. Judy was an avid reader and loved to write letters and cards to family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with family and adored her grandchildren and was looking forward to a new grandchild to be born any day. She often functioned as a peacemaker in her everyday work and served as an example to others.
Judy is survived by: her husband Keith Piatt of Dexter; son Timothy (Nikki) Kirkman of Adel; daughter Sandra Stevens of Waukee; father Arnold Beattie of Ontario, Canada; brothers Bruce Beattie of Jupiter, Florida; and Ralph (Holly) Beattie of Blairsville, Georgia; grandchildren: Kylie Kirkman of Adel, Tyler Kirkman-Macklin of Waukee and Isabella Stevens of Waukee; step-mother Carol Piatt of Dexter and sisters-in-law Barb (Les) Nation of Dexter and Jan (Kevin) Powell of Stuart, and many nieces and nephews.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord,
the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
