|Nyle Morton Johnson, 79, went forth to meet his Lord on September 5, 2007, after a courageous eight year battle with cancer, his beloved wife Nancy and his family at his side.
Nyle was born in Oshkosh and graduated from Oshkosh High School, going on to barber college in Green Bay. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 – 1954 during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.
He married Nancy Belkye in 1956. Nyle owned and operated Monument Square Barber Shop in downtown Oshkosh for thirty-seven years. He loved golfing, traveling and camping with his family. He was truly a kind and gentle man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Nyle is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 51 years, and their devoted, loving daughters, Diane Flanigan, Cathy (Todd) Weisnicht, Vickie (David) Larson and Joy (Frank) Larsen; grandchildren, Dana and Andrew Weisnicht, Adam Wilson, Trini, Olga and Gina Larson; and great-grandson Sayid Wilson; mother in law, Lillian Hackbarth; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and James Green; sister-in-law, Beverly Belkye and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Glenna Johnson; his father and step-mother, Morton and Hilda Johnson; brother, Jerry Johnson; brother-in-law, Clarence Belkye; and son-in-law, Glen “Irish” Flanigan.
The family would like to give special thanks to Affinity Hospice caregivers, Astra, Deb, Mary, Patsy and Sue for their kind and caring support and UW Madison Hospital Oncology Dept.
A private memorial service for the family was held. A memorial fund will be established.
