Ted J. Nortman, age 66, of Omro, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, from ALS. Ted was born November 3, 1942, in Oshkosh, the son of John and Eleanor (Stone) Nortman. He was a graduate of Omro High School and then later attended Fox Valley Technical College. Ted was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during Viet Nam. He married the former Mary A. Gibbon on September 16, 1967, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Neenah. Ted was a professional fire fighter for the City of Oshkosh for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball, gardening, farming and woodworking. Ted gave generously of his time as 4-H leader for many years and was also a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Omro.

Ted is loved and will be missed by his wife, Mary; his son, Mike (Susan) Nortman of Ettrick, WI; grandchildren, Mikayla Nortman, Sally Rogstad, Jennifer (Lance) Leisgang; five great grandchildren; his brother, Tod (Lana) Nortman of Omro; foster daughter, Ann (Tom) Rauen; nieces, Lisa Nortman and Amy (Pete) Geffers; grand niece, Audrey Geffers; other relatives and many friends.

In respect to Ted’s memory, friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, August 21, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Jason Blahnik and Sr. Celine Goessl officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Liberty Prairie Cemetery in Pickett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Salvation Army, Sturgeon for Tomorrow, Pheasants Forever, or the charity of your choice.
