|Betty J. Leitgeb, age 80, of Omro, died peacefully Sunday evening, March 18, 2012, at the Omro Care Center. Betty was born February 3, 1932, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Nicholas and Katerina (Harnaker) Kersch. She married Charles D. Leitgeb on January 6, 1951, in Chicago. Betty taught Middle School in the Omro School District for 24 years, retiring in 1991. She was an avid reader, who enjoyed teaching, sewing, playing computer games, boating, swimming and sending emails to her family and friends. In their retirement years, both Betty and Chuck enjoyed camping and traveling with their RV friends.
Betty is loved and will be missed by her husband of 61 years, Chuck; daughters, Charlene (Chuck) Wortman of Henderson, Nevada, Christine (Gene) Lee of Aurora, Colorado, Carol (Jim) Verburgt of Omro and Katie (Tom) Marquardt of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Melissa, Dina, Ryan, Gregg, Jason, Brandon and Blake; great grandchildren, Miles, Ashlyn, Jarrett, Dylan and Emma; sister, Evelyne May of Omro; brother, Tony Kersch of Buffalo Grove, IL; brother in law and sister in law, Fred and Dorothy Leitgeb of Mosinee, WI; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Katerina Kersch; brother, Nick, Jr, and brother in law, Bill May.
Private family services will be held.
The family would like to thank the staff of Omro Care Center for the care given to Betty over the past four years.
