Larry G. Zink, age 61, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Crestridge Care Center, Maquoketa, Iowa, after an extended illness.
Larry was born August 31, 1947, in Stockton, Illinois, the son of Herman and Lucille (Kupfer) Zink. He attended school in Stockton and Mt. Carroll. Larry married Karen Kessler on November 13, 1965, in Lanark, Illinois.
Larry worked at Johnston’s Feed Service and Bee-Line Ready Mix in Mt. Carroll before working twenty-three years at the Savanna Army Depot as a Fire Fighter retiring as the Assistant Fire Chief.
Larry enjoyed hunting, visiting with his friends and telling tall tales, playing the spoons, and truck driving. He was also a longtime member of the Mt. Carroll Volunteer Fire Department.
Larry is survived by his wife Karen Zink of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; two sons, Jeff (Mary) Zink of Shannon, Illinois and Troy (Brenda) Zink of Mt. Carroll; three grandsons, Kyle, Tyler, and Adam Zink; one twin brother, Gary (Jennifer) Zink of Savanna, Illinois; a sister, Lori (Ron) Hefflefinger of Winnebago, Illinois, and a sister-in-law, Ann Zink of Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Richard.
