Olive P. Culver, age 94, of Preston, Iowa, died on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at the Crestridge Care Facility in Maquoketa, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009, at the Miller – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Preston. Burial will follow in the Reeseville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 – 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, prior to the service at the Miller – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Preston. Memorials may be directed to Jackson County Hospice.

Olive was born on December 11, 1914, in Jackson County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Hogg) Clark. She attended school in the Preston area. She was married to Edward E. Culver on July 13, 1936. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1985.

Olive farmed with her husband most of her life in Jackson County. She later worked as an aide for people needing home health care. Olive was a member of the Congregational Church in Green Island were she was part of the Ladies Aide. Olive loved quilt making, and was a beautiful seamstress. She also gardened, both vegetable and flower, and her flowers were “food for the soul.”

Olive is survived and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Emmalou (Lester) Langrehr of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Ronda (Kevin) Johnson of Davenport, Iowa; two sons, Ronald Culver of Frankston, Texas, and Kenneth (Constance) Culver of Fairview, Oregon; one daughter – in – law, Barbara Culver of Livingston, Texas; twenty – three grandchildren and many great and great – great grandchildren; one sister, Rose McDermott of Sabula, Iowa; one brother Tom (Tina) Clark of LeClaire, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Olive was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Charles Culver; five sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren.
