Tom Edwards, Sr., age 48, of Morrison, Illinois, previously of Mt. Carroll, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at CGH Hospital, Sterling. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 21 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Tom’s memory. Tom was born October 9, 1960 in Savanna, the son of William and Betty (Chapman) Edwards. He is a graduate of the Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1979. After High School, Tom went to Alaska to work. He returned to the Mt. Carroll area where he became a Milk Hauler. On December 9, 1992, Tom married Nancy Gorzney in Mt. Carroll. He hauled milk for himself and later worked for his brother. He always dreamed of returning and retiring to Alaska. Tom was a loving father and husband. His children loved to hear his "stories" about life. Whenever friends or family visited, Tom was quick to offer them food and wanted them to be comfortable and stay for a while. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Nancy of Morrison; two sons, Tom Edwards, Jr. And Tyler Edwards, both of Morrison; five daughters, Toshua (Johnny) Rodgers of Mississippi, Alicia (Geoff) Strahl of Alaska, Aimee Marruffo of Clinton, Iowa, Anna Edwards and Michelle Edwards, both of Morrison; four grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan, Blake and Kaitlyn; four brothers, Billy Edwards of Mt. Carroll, Terry (Penny) Edwards of Thomson, Gary Edwards of Mt. Carroll and Rick (Alice) Edwards of Stockton; five sisters, Deb (Dave) Davenport of Savanna, Nancy (David) Williams of Freeport, Peggy (Bill) Shaw of Savanna, Beatrice Griffin of Freeport and Barbara (James) Foley of Savanna; and a brother in-law, John Bork of Savanna. Tom is preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Joyce.
