  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES
 
Helen I. Tillis, age 92, of Sabula, Iowa died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Sabula United Methodist Church, Sabula with Pastors Sandra and Tom Berryman officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Church. Helen was born August 10, 1917 in Sabula, the daughter of William M. and Rose M. (Peters) Hodges. She is a graduate of the Sabula High School. On September 15, 1943, Helen married Donald Tillis. He died November 18, 1995 at the age of 83.
Helen was a member of the Sabula United Methodist Church, and a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Pythian Sisters. Her long life leaves many treasured friends and memories in the Sabula area.
Helen will be dearly missed by a sister, Jane Peterson of Clinton, three nieces and two nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald.
