Barbara Ann Daniels, age 72, of Miles, Iowa, died on Monday, October 19, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston, Iowa with Father Paul Lippstock as Celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Boniface Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa following the funeral luncheon. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with a Scripture Wake service at 3:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in Barbara’s memory. Barbara was born on October 30, 1936, the daughter of Aloysius and Marie (Droste) Wagemester in Clinton, Iowa. She attended St. Boniface School and later attended St. Mary’s High School in Clinton, graduating with the class of 1954. After high school, Barbara worked for DuPont and was a clerk for Determan Grocery and Gaardes Grocery, Clinton. She married Darrell Daniels on April 28, 1962 in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Clinton. Barbara was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and regularly attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston. She had a strong Catholic faith and was involved in religious education for many years. Barbara enjoyed music and loved singing in the church choir. She also truly enjoyed caring for the elderly in her community. Barbara suffered an aneurysm in 1996 and underwent extensive rehabilitation at On With Life in Ankeny, Genesis West in Davenport and Samaritan South in Clinton. She has been a resident at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton since 1997. She and her family have been very appreciative of the good care and friendships she had at the Alverno. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Barbara is survived by her husband, Darrell; three sons, Mark (Colleen) Daniels and grandchildren Zachary and Caitlynn of Robins, Iowa, Thomas (Ikuyo) Daniels and grandchildren Serina, Kiyora and Riana of Moline, Illinois, and Paul (Candace) Daniels and grandchildren Monroe and Harrison of Spencer, Iowa; two daughters, Teresa (Loran) Jacobsen and grandchildren Lee, Matthew and Andrew of Goose Lake, Iowa, and Mary (David) Horst and grandchildren Ann, Nathan and Ellen of Blairstown, Iowa; one brother, David Wagemester of Clinton; two sisters, Rita (Leon) Bott of Clinton and Dorothy Wagemester of Vista, California; and a sister in-law, Gladys Wagemester of Clinton. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Ann Marie; a brother, Henry Wagemester; and a goddaughter, Christy Roth.
