| | | Rensselaer- Alice M. Foust Dalton passed away Sunday November 16, 2008. She was born in Rensselaer and predeceased by her husband of 35 years Edward V. Dalton who passed away October 15, 1973. She was married in June of 1938 and resided in Albany before moving back to Rensselaer in 1969. She was daughter of the late Pansy West Foust and Peter J. Foust and was predeceased by her brothers Peter Foust, III, John W. Foust, Philip J. Foust and her sister Lillian E. Bradwell. Alice is mother of William E. Dalton and his wife Rosemary of Rensselaer and Patricia A. Zwicker and her husband Dean of Norton, MA. Aunt and guardian of James E. Bradwell and his wife Patricia of Broadalbin. Beloved sister-in-law of Jean Moran of Colonie. Grandmother of Parrish J. Dalton, Sean E. Dalton both of Fort Mill, SC, Dawn Rush of Stanley, NC, Nicole and Courtney Dalton both of Rensselaer and Phallon and Stephanie Bradwell both of Broadalbin. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Dear friend and companion of the late John Schmitt. Godmother of Peter J. Foust of Rensselaer and Donald Waters of Schenectady. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mrs. Dalton was employed for 25 years as a clerk for the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. She was a very active member in many organizations and well loved by all those who knew her. She was a member of the Rensselaer Senior Center, where she volunteered much of her time including teaching line dancing there for 23 years before retiring in January of 2007 due to health reasons. Alice was past president of the senior center and served on the program planning committee, as well as holding several other offices and serving as past chairwoman of the advisory board. She was the Rensselaer Senior of the year at the center for 1991-1992, Rensselaer County Senior of the year 1999-2000. She was involved with the Yankee Doodle Entertainers from 1981-2004, Past President of the Fort Crailo American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #471. She was a member for 30 years of the Hudson Mohawk Ladies Auxiliary and Life Member of the Rensselaer Democratic Women and Past President of the Van Rensselaer Heights Resident Association. Alice was recognized in 2004 with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Capitol District Senior Issues Forum. Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Rensselaer Friday morning at 9:00 and 10:00 at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church 470 Winter Street Ex. North Greenbush. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Greenbush Cemetery, East Greenbush. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Rensselaer Senior Center East and Herrick Streets Rensselaer, NY 12144.
