| Saratoga Springs-Leona E. Luft Gardner, age, 91 years, of Saratoga Springs, passed away Friday November 21, 2008 at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa. She was born in Albany and has been a resident of Saratoga Springs for 13 years. Mrs. Gardner was a homemaker and a communicant of St. Clements Church in Saratoga Springs. She was a member of the Senior Citizen Center in Wilton. Leona was an avid card player, gardener, but the biggest joy in her life was her family with a special fondness for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Beloved wife of 68 years to William J. Gardner, Sr. of Saratoga Springs; mother of William J. Gardner, Jr. of Menands, Henry L. (Laurie) Gardner of Boise, Idaho, James M. (Marla) Gardner of Stillwater, Stephen P. (LouAnn) Gardner of Saratoga Springs, Christopher M. (Judith) Gardner of East Greenbush and the late Jeannette Gardner. Sister of the late Marion Fleisher, Corrine Ritz and William Luft; grandmother of Kimberly (Mike) Soden, Michael (Christine) Gardner, Jeannette (Michael) Spero, Teresa (Neil) Falvey, Sheri Hackman, Shawn Hackman, Kristin Gardner, Katherine Gardner, Andrew Gardner, Scott (Samantha) Gardner, Annie (Tom) Mulheren and Timothy Gardner. Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Tuesday morning at 9:30 and 10:30 at St. Joseph’s Church Third Street Rensselaer where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
