Crematory

In 1997, to better serve the community, Mann-Hare Funeral Home installed Fostoria's first, and only crematory.  This modern unit completes a cremation in just over 2 hours, with emissions from the crematory being considerably less than that of a wood burning stove.

The 15 foot long unit is comprised of two chambers.  The lower chamber is larger and houses the main burner, which actually completes the cremation.  The upper chamber is much smaller and holds the afterburner.  The purpose of the afterburner is to complete any further evaporation as necessary.  Both chambers heat to over 1800 degrees.  A wave of heat from the stack is usually the only visible sign of use.

After the cremation, the remains are gathered, then processed in the most modern unit available.  Processing turns the bone fragments into a fine powder.  The cremated remains are then placed in a temporary container, or selected urn.

Mann-Hare Funeral Home also owns a body cooling unit, because Ohio law requires that 24 hours pass before cremation takes place.  If you would like to tour the crematory, or have questions, give us a call, or click the Contact Us icon.
