Memorial services for Cozella Ruth Burns will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Capron First United Methodist Church with Rev. Elizabeth Kirkwood officiating. She was cremated at her request. The cremation was under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Cozella Ruth Burns, daughter of the late Elmer and Edna (Fite) Hale was born November 1, 1921, at Shawnee, Oklahoma and passed away April 12, 2008, at the Kiowa Hospital District Manor in Kiowa, Kansas at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 11 days .

Cozella attended schools in the Tulsa area. On September 5, 1953, she was united in marriage to John Robert Burns at Yuma, Arizona. After their marriage they made their home in the Kiowa and Alva area and then Oklahoma City for several years before returning to rural Alva in 1965.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kiowa, the Agri-Women, and the Enid Gem and Mineral Society. Cozella and John enjoyed square dancing for forty years and she also liked to knit, crochet, and make beaded jewelry.

Besides her parents, Cozella was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Hail; and two sisters, Sara Hale and Billie Sanders.

Cozella is survived by her husband, John; two nephews, Randolph Feezell and his wife, Barbara, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and Larry Feezell and his wife, Polly, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; other relatives and many, many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Flannigans Boys and Girls Home or the Kiowa Hospital District Manor.
