| | | Funeral services for Betty Lou Brown will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 8th, 2008, at the Alva Church of the Nazarene with Reverend William S. Kalfas officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Betty Lou Brown, daughter of Frederick John and Frances Ila (Lyon) Brown, was born on the family farm west of Alva and passed away at her home on September 4th, 2008.
Betty attended Farry Elementary School and graduated from Farry High School west of Alva. After graduation she moved to Enid, Oklahoma, and began Business College. Upon graduation, Betty returned to Alva and worked as a secretary for Alva Public Terminal and then Flour Mills of America. Upon closing of the Mill, she went to work at Central National Bank until her retirement.
Betty was a devoted daughter, caring for both parents in her home in Alva. Known as "Aunt B" to her nephews, she was a very proud and loving aunt and they considered her their second mother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, and spending time on the family farm west of Alva.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Brown, in 2005.
Betty is survived by her mother, Frances Brown of Alva; her sister, Shirley Ann Smith of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two nephews, Mark Smith of Alva, and Darin Smith and his wife, Julie, of Norman, Oklahoma; great nieces and nephew, Lauren Smith of Norman, Oklahoma, and Shelby and Dillon Smith of Alva; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Church of the Nazarene.
