| | | Graveside services for Elmer Edwin “Sarge” Bartlett will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery with Dr. Greg Hook officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC.
Elmer Edwin Bartlett, son of the late Edwin Theodore and Mary Ann (Ashbrook) Bartlett, was born June 20, 1931, at Blackwell, Oklahoma, and passed away November 22, 2008, at Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 2 days.
After Sarge graduated from the Palestine, Texas High School, he enlisted in the Air Force and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served in Korea as a diesel mechanic and was later stationed at Camp Pendelton until his retirement. After his service he moved to Hayesville, Kansas.
He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion in Mulvane, Kansas, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Haysville, Kansas, and a life member of DAV in Wichita, Kansas.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, David Alan Bartlett; and four sisters, Cassie Seaman, Eva Marie Bartlett, Edith Torp, and Caroline Ruth Bartlett.
Sarge is survived by his sister Ethel McGolden of Hayesville, Kansas; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Waynoka Cemetery.
