Funeral services for Opal Maxine Birkle will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009, at the Alva Church of God with Pastor Bob Brown officiating. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Willow Creek Cemetery north of Buffalo, Oklahoma, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Opal Maxine Birkle, daughter of the late Hardy and Fern (Fleming) Secrest, was born June 1, 1920, at Rosston, Oklahoma, and passed away February 2, 2009, at Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 1 day.

Opal attended Rosston school. In1939, she was united in marriage to Eugene Charles Case at Rosston. After their marriage, they lived on a farm north of Buffalo. After living in Rosston, Buffalo, Wichita, and Colorado, they moved to Alva in 1998.

She was a member of the Alva Church of God. She enjoyed quilting and made quilts for her children and grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Charles Case; three daughters, Maxine Pendergrass, Marilyn Aramburu, and Sharon Drake; one brother, Red Secrest; and two sisters, Ethel Jennings and Vivian Birkle.

Opal is survived by one son, James D. Case of Derby, Kansas; two adopted daughters, Carrie and Stacy Birkle of Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Church of God.
