| | | Gary Wayne Bebermeyer, son of Rev. Benjamin and Maxine (Bottenberg) Bebermeyer, was born August 11, 1961, at Kiowa, Kansas, and passed away August 2, 2004, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 42 years, 11 months, 21 days.
Gary attended school in Dacoma and graduated from Alva High School in the class of 1979. He obtained his bachelor’s degree at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He was united in marriage to Angie Wegener. He lived all of his life in the Alva area where he worked as an insurance agent. On March 9, 1997, he was united in marriage to Becky Shook at Alva, Oklahoma.
Gary was a member of the gospel singing group “The Peacemakers.” The group consisted of Gary, his brother, Terry, his sisters Pam and Roxine, and a friend, Sheri Bushman. The Peacemakers made several recordings and traveled with his father, Ben, for more than 20 years in evangelistic ministry, primarily throughout this five state region.
Gary was a member of the Hopeton Wesleyan Church and Rotary. He was active in the FFA and served as president of the Sirloin Club in Freedom. He enjoyed helping his children show sheep. He was an avid coin collector and loved Cardinal Baseball.
Gary is survived by his wife, Becky, of the home; two sons, Garrett Wayne Bebermeyer and Clay Andrew Bebermeyer, both of Alva; three step-daughters, Michele Harmon, Amanda Harmon, and Cassie Harmon, all of Alva; his parents, Ben and Maxine Bebermeyer of Alva; one brother, Terry Bebermeyer and his wife, Lori, of Hillsboro, Kansas; two sisters, Roxine Bushman and her husband, Dwight, of Wakita, Oklahoma, and Pam Humphrey and her husband, Kim, of Jet, Oklahoma; nine nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation with the family will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004, at Hopeton Wesleyan Church with Rev. Marion Hadsell and Rev. Kammie Humphrey officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to a scholarship fund for Garrett and Clay Bebermeyer.
