Marvin Dean Benson, son of the late Vernon Henry and Myrtle Mae (Henderson) Benson, was born September 10, 1936, in Woods County, Oklahoma, and passed away December 31, 2004, at Odessa, Texas, at the age of 68 years, 3 months, and 21 days.

Dean graduated from Waynoka High School with the class of 1956. He served in the United States Army. He worked as a pipe fitter and painter in the oil field industry and had lived in Odessa, Texas for the last several years.. He was united in marriage to Connie Koller.

He was very active in the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed playing golf.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Lee Benson, Roger Benson, and Donald Gene Benson.

Dean is survived by his wife, Connie, of Odessa, Texas; five brothers, James Benson and his wife, Gerry, of Viola, Kansas, Derrell Benson and his wife, Jean of Gravette, Arkansas, Delbert Benson and his wife, Loretta, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Charles Benson of North Las Vegas, Nevada, and Bill Benson and his wife, Arleen, of Fairview; two sisters, Gayle Farnsworth and her husband, Geoff, of Crofton, Maryland, and Mary Lou Glasco and her husband, Duane, of Amarillo, Texas; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2004, at the Star Cemetery west of Alva with Rev. Rich Redinger officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Elks Lodge #1348 in Lubbock, Texas.
