| | | David Stapp Clapper, son of the late Paul and Gladys (Stapp) Clapper, was born October 23, 1934, at his grandfather’s home in Waynoka, Oklahoma, and passed away January 21, 2005, at his home in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 28 days.
After David graduated from Waynoka High School, he graduated from Oklahoma State University where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. On November 7, 1975, he was united in marriage to Tama Drake in Pampa, Texas. They lived for a time in Waynoka where he worked for Goldspot Dairy. He then worked for Santa Fe Railroad for several years before working as a truck driver for Union Carbide. They had lived in Coahoma, Texas and Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Joplin, Missouri while he worked for Union Carbide.
He was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church and Waynoka Masonic Lodge #422. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Clapper.
David is survived by his wife, Tama, of Joplin, Missouri; six children, Mylee Bell and her husband, Jon, of Amarillo, Texas, Darin Clapper and his wife, Suzanne, of Waynoka, Kama Brune and her husband, Phillip, of Joplin, Mike Clapper and his wife, Denise, of Norman, Oklahoma, Robert Clapper of Wichita, and Cheryl Jones of Waco, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, Justie Bell, Ashley Clapper, Cody and Kasey Asche, Hannah Tubb, Ethan, Christopher, and Nicholas Brune, Tara, Justin, Rachel, and Julia Clapper, Jeremy Clapper, and Tuesday and Dustin Hughes; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at the Waynoka First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Newton officiating. Interment will be in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Waynoka FFA.
