| | | Glenda Jean Bowling, daughter of the late Francis J. and Grace (Hood) Davis, was born August 15, 1937, in Woods County, Oklahoma, and passed away November 13, 2005, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 68 years, 2 months, and 28 days.
Glenda attended school at Capron until her family moved to Alva where she graduated from Alva High School. She attended business school where she was trained to become a Medical Transcriptionist. She was united in marriage to Harold David Conard. To this union two children, James Bryan and Carol Jean were born.
She worked as a medical transcriptionist in Phoenix for several years. In 1970, she was united in marriage to Leonard Bowling. .
She attended the Baptist Church. She was a member of Women of the Moose. As an accomplished writer and poet, she was awarded the Golden Poet Award in Washington D. C. by Bob Hope.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard.
Glenda is survived by one son, James Bryan Conard of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Carol Jean Conard of Alva; one sister, Melva Seevers and her husband, Kelly of Alva; and her niece and nephew, Stacy Fisher and Josh Fisher of Oklahoma City.
She is also survived by two dear nieces and fellow poets and their families, Cathy Pierce and her sister, Sherri Omo; her nephew and friend, Jeff Test; other relatives and friends.
There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2005.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Judye Pistole and Nathan Gaisford officiating. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Contributions may be made through the funeral home to help with the funeral expenses.
