| | | Graveside services for Lora M. Barton, age 74, will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at the Alva Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Paul Cole officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. The casket will not be open at the funeral home.
Lora M. Barton, daughter of the late Solon T. and Lena Mae (Runkle) Penrod, was born June 25, 1931, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and passed away May 26, 2006, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 1 day.
Lora attended several schools in Oklahoma. On November 21, 1960, she was united in marriage to Ray Barton in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They lived in Colorado for 20 years. When Ray went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad they lived in several places until his retirement in 1987 when they moved to Alva. She worked as a waitress.
She was a member of the Alva Moose Lodge. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and needlework, as well as ceramics.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, on May 25, 1998; and one brother, Robert Penrod.
Lora is survived by two brothers, Jim Penrod and his wife, Peggy, of Alva, and George Penrod and his wife, Nona, of Rocky Ford, Colorado. She is, also survived by her granddaughter, Rebecca Kimbrel and her husband, Luke, and great grandchildren, Debra and Paul; many other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for cancer research.
