Funeral services for Wayne Allen Carson will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Waynoka Church of God with Rev. Marvin Stuckey, pastor of the Waynoka United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC.

Wayne Allen Carson, son of the late Kit and Floy (Hinderliter) Carson, was born April 7, 1930, in Woods County, Oklahoma, and passed away April 15, 2009, at Waynoka, Oklahoma, at the age of 79 years and 8 days.

Wayne attended several rural schools and graduated from Waynoka High School. On February 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Toots Lakey at Waynoka, Oklahoma. After serving in the United States Navy the couple made their home in Waynoka, where he earned his bachelor degree from Northwestern State College.

They lived in Waynoka where he owned and operated Carson Insurance Agency. He also helped form Santos, an oil and gas exploration company, in which he was an active business partner. He was very civic minded and tried to help Waynoka in any way he could, including helping start the fiberglass manufacturing plant which still operates in Waynoka.

He was a member of the Waynoka United Methodist Church, Waynoka Masonic Lodge #422, and the American Legion. He enjoyed flying, quail hunting, and golfing.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Toots, of Waynoka; two sons, Chuck Carson and wife, Debbie, of Dacoma, and Mark Carson and wife, Karen, of Waynoka; one brother, Kenneth Carson of Clovis, New Mexico; one sister, Bessie Devine of Waynoka; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Waynoka United Methodist Church building fund or the Waynoka Nursing Center.
