| | | Funeral services for Mareitta Jo “Jody” Cox of Enid, Oklahoma, formerly of Carmen, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the Wentworth Chapel in Carmen with Rev. John Bizzell officiating. Interment will be in the Carmen City Cemetery under the direction of Wentworth Mortuary, LLC.
Mareitta Jo “Jody” (Boyce)Cox, daughter of the late Jim Verdis and Evelyn Faye (Brooks) Boyce was born January 19, 1942 in Cherokee, Oklahoma, and passed away on May 8,2009 at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas, at the age of 67 years, 3 months, and 19 days.
Jody attended school and graduated from Carmen High School with the class of 1960. She was valedictorian of her graduating class. On March 31, 1967, Jody was united in marriage to Warren Cox at her parents home in Carmen.
Jody had lived in Enid since her retirement as a rural postal carrier. She carried mail in Carmen as well as Pond Creek. She enjoyed making porcelain dolls and traveled with her friends to many doll shows.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Jody is survived by her son, Karl Cox of Fairview, Oklahoma; her daughter, Karen Anderson of Grapevine, Texas; two grandchildren, Taylor and Cory Anderson of Grapevine, Texas; one brother, Dale Boyce of Richland, Washington; one sister, Elaine Moser and her husband, Earl, of Norman, Oklahoma; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home for funeral expenses.
