| | | Graveside services for Lula Mae “Rose” Brewer of Alva, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2009, at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Carmen with Rev. John Clapp, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Wentworth Mortuary, LLC. Rose will lie in state at Marshall Funeral Home of Alva Saturday and Sunday.
Lula Mae Brewer, daughter of the late Charles Frank and Lela Dell (Arendale) Rose was born February 18, 1926, Salina, Kansas, and passed away October 9, 2009, at Beadles Nursing Home in Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 21 days.
Rose attended school in Cleburne, Kansas. Rose was united in marriage to Laverne Brewer.
Rose lived in Alva for the last 25 years and before that she lived in Carmen. She lived the last several years at Beadles Nursing Home where one of her proudest moments was being crowned “Valentine Sweetheart” in 2007. Rose loved working word puzzles, reading, playing dominoes, crafts, participating in the Rainbow House and regularly attending the Bible Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Rose is survived by two brothers, Donald Rose, of Alva, Oklahoma and Calvin Rose and wife, Florence, of Lafayette, California; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Bible Baptist Church.
