Graveside funeral services for Georgia Rose Stebens will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at the Alva Municipal Cemetery. Interment will be under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Georgia Rose Stebens, daughter of the late Walter Raymond and Retta Bell (Yohn) Corbin, was born the youngest of ten children on October 19, 1935, at Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away October 16, 2009, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 26 days.

Georgia graduated from Alva High School. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Gilford Dean Stebens at Alva. To this union four children were born: Ricky Dean, Monte Jim, Gay Lynn, and Darren Gene. They moved to Colorado in 1955. While in Denver, Georgia became an avid Broncos fan. She moved back to Alva in 1976 to care for her mother.

She was a long time member of the Alva Women of the Moose. She became an accomplished oil on canvas landscape artist, selling paintings in Dallas as well as around Oklahoma. Georgia also enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Georgia is survived by three sons, Ricky Stebens, Monte Stebens, and Darren Stebens and wife, Joyce, of Alva; one daughter, Gay Nagel and husband, Dale, of Greeley, Colorado; two brothers, Jim Corbin of Joplin, Missouri, and Chet Corbin and wife, Deann, of Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren including Joshua Nagel of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Natasha Faucett of Alva; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Women of the Moose.
