| | | Funeral services for Bessie Idel Devine will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Waynoka Church of God with Rev. David Shaw officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Hill Cemetery under the Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC.
Bessie Idel Devine, daughter of Percy Allen Kit and Floy Melissa (Hinderliter) Carson was born March 8, 1916, on the family farm near Avard, Oklahoma, and passed away April 20, 2012, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 96 years, 1 month, and 12 days.
Bessie attended the Missouri Valley School and graduated the 8th grade in 1930. On September 2, 1939, she was united in marriage to Glenn W. Devine.
She was a very active member of the Waynoka Church of God and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Rose Valley Club. She helped Glenn on the farm and enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, farming, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; one son, Gary Lee Devine, and one brother, Wayne Carson.
Bessie is survived by her son, Max Devine and wife, Von, of Waynoka; one brother, Kenneth Carson, of Clovis, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Bridget Dean and husband, Rusty, of Waynoka, Sandy Adams and husband, Chris, of Ark City, Kansas, Lanna Slater and husband, Fred, of Cleo Springs, Shane Devine and wife, Tammy, of Waynoka, Lisa Higgins and husband, Brad, of Waynoka, and Justin Clark and wife Patricia of New York; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of wondereful friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Share Convalescent Home or the Waynoka EMTs.
