Roger B. Meleen



Roger B. Meleen, age 66, of North Portage Street, Westfield, NY, died Saturday, August 28, 2004 at Westfield Memorial Hospital ER after being stricken at home.

He was born December 25, 1937 in Jamestown, New York the son of the late Elmer and Lucille (Young) Meleen.

A Westfield resident most all his life, he was a member of the last class of the former Westfield Academy School graduating in 1955. Mr. Meleen was a US Army Veteran having served with the 69th Div. in Basic, the 24th Div. in Korea and the 8th Army at Ft. Riley, KS, as a member of the Honor Guard prior to his discharge in 1959. Roger was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Westfield where he married the former Elna Bowen on April 8, 1960. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 118 of Westfield, a former member of the Cascade Hose Co. of the Fire Dept. of Westfield and a curent member of the Westfield Exempt Fireman's assoc., as well as a life member of the Mayville VFW . He retired from Renold, Inc. in 2000, where he had been employed as a draftsman and inspector.

Survivors include his wife
Elna (Bowen) Meleen of Westfield, NY, his 3 sons and their wives; Mark (Connie) Meleen of Mayville, NY, Stephen (Gail) Meleen of Westfield, NY, David (Karen) Meleen of East Randolph, NY, his daughter and her husband, Diane (Mark) Grant of Westfield, NY, his brother and his wife, Douglas ( Rita) Meleen of Mayville, NY, his 10 grandchildren; Linda, Michele , Kristen and Macy Meleen, Taylor and Corbin Meleen, Tanner Douglas and Garrett Grant as well as Ethan and Caroline Meleen and his Great grandson, Domenic A. Cusimano, also ssurvived by his sister in law, Mrs. Stuart (Delores) Meleen of Westfield, NY

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Meleen, and his mother, Lucille (Young) Meleen, and his brother Stuart Meleen .

Visitation will not be observed

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 12:00 Noon at The First Presbyterian Church and Society of Westfield. Rev .Dr. Arthur D. Webster will be officiating. Burial will be in Mayville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to The Charity of Choice.
