Robert S. Mascaro
Robert S. Mascaro, age 84, of Bank Street, Westfield, NY, died Wednesday, February 02, 2005 at the Waters of Westfield in Westfield, New York, the end of a long descent into the abyss of Alzheimer’s.
He was born January 29, 1921 in Mayville, New York the son of the late Frank and Marguerite (VanTassel) Mascaro.
A graduate of Westfield High School, Bob served in the US Army during WW II. While stationed at Normoyle Ordinance Depot in San Antonio, TX, he met and married his wife of 61 years. They returned to Westfield where Bob will be fondly remembered by many in the community as the Manager of the former Grand Theatre of Westfield, a position he held for 30 years. He then served the US Postal Service as a letter carrier, clerk and finally retired as Assistant Postmaster of the Westfield Post Office. A convert to Catholicism, Bob was a proud member of St. James Major Roman Catholic Church and a 50+ year member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 118 of Westfield. Retirement took Bob and his wife on many trips through Canada and the United States.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years,
Mary Leah (Anderson) Mascaro of Westfield, NY, his 2 daughters; Joan C. Caruso of Westfield, NY, and Mary M. "Muffi" Mascaro and her husband Rob Farkas of Erie, PA, as well as by his son Robert R. "Rick" Mascaro and his wife Judith of Seneca, SC. One Granddaughter and one Great Granddaughter also survive as well as his sister
Marguerite O'Connor of Buffalo, NY
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank William Mascaro, and his mother, Marguerite M. (VanTassel) Mascaro, and by his 2 brothers; F. W. "Bill" Mascaro and Paul Mascaro.
Visitation will be at MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY on Friday from 3-5 & 7-8 PM
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 1:30 P.M. at St. James Major RC Church. Fr. Daniel Young will be officiating. Private interment in St. James Cemetery.
