Libbie M. Caruso
Libbie M. Caruso, 93, a resident of the Chautauqua County Home formerly of Prospect Road, Westfield, NY, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at her home in Dunkirk, New York.
She was born July 15, 1911 in Silver Creek, New York the daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Amico) Scarlata.
A Westfield area resident since 1928, she moved here from Silver Creek, NY to enjoy a life of Grape farming with her late husband Mike on thier family farm on Prospect Road in Westfield. She had been a member of Growers Co-Op. She was a member of St. James Major RC Church of Westfield and a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and gardening. She also enjoyed working on the annual St. James Spaghetti Dinners.
Survivors include her son
Salvatore (Sy) Caruso and his wife Theo of Portland, NY, her two daughters; Ann Polichetti of Dunkirk, NY, and Charlotte Douglass and her husband Don of Rochester, NY. Also survived by; 7 Grandchildren,14 Great Grandchildren, her brother Charles Scarlata and her sister Louise Borzillire both of Silver Creek, NY.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael, who she married on November 24, 1928 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Silver Creek, NY and who died on November 21, 1981. Her father, Charles Scarlata, and her mother, Rose (Amico) Scarlata, her daughter Rosmarie Marsala, her one brother Frank Scarlata, and by her five sisters; Minnie Alfonso, Rose Botticello, Margaret (Leone) Horton, Helen Lalomia and Josephine Lancione.
Visitation will be at MASON Funeral Home, 37 CLinton Street, Westfield, NY on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 from 3-7 PM
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Major RC Church. Fr. Daniel Young of St. James Major RC Church will be officiating. Private Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery in Westfield.
