Alice L. Gault
Alice L. (Lewellen) Barton Gault, age 98, a resident of The Ball Pavilion, Erie, PA, died Friday morning, May 27, 2005 at home following a brief illness.
She was born April 18, 1907 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Harry and Blanche (Deffenbaugh) Lewellen.
A Uniontown area resident most all her life, she moved to Erie in 1999 to be closer to her son. Alice was a graduate of German Twp. High School, received her teaching degree from Cal State Teachers College and did graduate studies at both the University of Wisconsin and Penn State Main Campus. She had been an Elementary School Teacher at the Hatfield School of the South Union Township School District for many years. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Uniontown, where she was active in Women's Circles and was very active in the Child Guidance Club. She maintained her membership in the Pennsylvania retired Teachers Assoc.
Survivors include her two sons and their wives;
Harry L. and Connie Barton of Westfield, NY, and John F. and Sandra Barton of Houston, TX. Alice is also survived by her four grandchildren; Christopher Barton and his wife Terry of Delaware, OH, Jeffrey Barton of Nashville, TN, Jennifer Barton, MD and her husband John R. Romanko of Rochester, NY, Rebecca Barton of Seattle, WA, as well as by her three Great Grandchildren, Katherine Alice and Madeline Marie Barton and Oscar Lewellen Romanko.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Lee Lewellen, and her mother, Blanche (Deffenbaugh) Lewellen, and by her two husbands, Russell C. Barton (First Husband), and James A. Gault (Second Husband).
Visitation will not be observed.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 6, 2005 at 11 AM at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Uniontown, PA with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
Memorials may be made to: the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, West Fayette & Morgantown Sts., Uniontown, PA 15401.
