Robert E. “Bob” Horton, age 72, of West Main Road, Westfield died Friday, December 2, 2005 at Waters Of Westfield, with his family by his side.
Mr. Horton was born on October 9, 1933 in the Town of Pomfret, NY the son of the late Lester and Dorothy (Tucker) Horton.
Bob had been a Westfield resident since 1958 having moved here from the town of Portland. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War having served in Germany. Mr. Horton had worked for Mogen David Winery for over 40 years and retired as a Wine Maker in 1995. He had also worked for Vilardo Vineyards for several years.
He took great pride in his family and home. Bob enjoyed camping and the outdoorsand was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed woodworking. He had attended the West Portland Baptist Church.
Mr. Horton was a member of UFCW Local 1-D, the Westfield Fish And Game Club, and a former member of the Wm. P. Jackway Post 6764 VFW.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Lou (VanDyke) Horton, who he married on Nov. 8, 1958 in Westfield and his three sons: Paul Horton of Mayville, NY, David Horton of Westfield, NY, and Steven Horton of North East, PA as well as by his 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Sara, Justin, Jacob and Jenna Horton.
Also survived by his brother: Marvin Horton of Westfield, NY
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his two sisters, Elsie Crispen, and Lenora Mulson, and by his brother, Maurice Horton.
Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 at the West Portland Baptist Church, Rt. 20, Westfield with Rev. Gary Henry officiating.
Private interment will be in Westfield Cemetery.
