WESTFIELD-Frances J. (Ciminella) Palermo, age 86, of Cass St., formerly of Jefferson St, Westfield died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Westfield Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Palermo was born June 24, 1919 in Westfield the daughter of the late James and Jennie (Orlando) Ciminella.
A Westfield resident most all her life, she had assisted her late husband Sebastian with the family business, the Jefferson Market, formerly Ciminella´s Market, at Pearl and Jefferson Sts. In Westfield. Frances enjoyed music and reading, however, her love was her family.
Mrs. Palermo was a member of St. James Major Roman Catholic Church and a life member of the St. James Major Altar And Rosary Society, having joined in 1940.
She was also a member of the Wm. P Jackway Post 6764 VFW Auxiliary and a former member of the YWCA Of Westfield,
Frances is survived by two daughters: Victoria (Roger) Clark of Fredonia, NY,and Celia (Richard) Volbrecht of Syracuse, NY and two sons: Gregory (Olivia) Palermo of Des Moines, IA, and Joseph (Mary) Palermo of Rockville Centre, NY. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Mark and Christopher Palermo, Jason, Matthew & Jeremy Clark; Kelly Jordan and Andrea Volbrecht; Amanda and Justin Palermo; and a great grandchild, Zachary Jordan.
She was preceded in death by by her Husband, Sebastian Palermo, who she married on Nov. 7, 1945 and who died on October 21, 1979; and by her two sisters
Rose Bushway and Mary Tempio, and by her four brothers, Michael, Joseph, Salvatore, and Anthony Ciminella
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 PM at MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield and are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. James Major Roman Catholic Church, Westfield with Fr. Charles Zadora officiating.
Burial will be in St. James Cemetery,
