| | | WESTFIELD-Sarah M. (Spacht) Monroe, age 84, of Route 5, Westfield, formerly of Port Salerno Florida, died Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at home.
Mrs. Monroe was born on November 1, 1921 in North East, PA the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Laura (Moyer) Spacht. She married Henry Monroe November 2, 1942 in French Creek, NY.
Born in North East, PA and a graduate of Sherman High School, she had been a resident of Barcelona, NY most all her life and retired to Florida for the winters. For the past eight years she and her usband were full time residents of Forida. She had been employed by Allegheny Ludlum Steel during WW II. She helped run the family businesses, Westfield Fisheries and
H.A. Monroe Excavating, as well as the Barcelona Drive In Hotdog and Ice Cream Stand. She and her husband also ran a commercial fishing business in Florida prior to her retirement. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, caneing, and stained glass art.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years: Henry A. Monroe, her two brothers; James Spacht of Landenberg, PA, and Thomas Spacht of Sherman, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survivie. She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Spacht
No calling hours will be observed. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
